Prop Firm Automation Rules
2026 — Full Guide

Which firms allow EAs, algos and webhook automation? What's universally banned? Know the rules before you risk a funded account on an automated strategy.

🚨
Read This Before Automating Any Funded Account
Rules change. Always verify current rules directly on the firm's website before running any automated strategy on a live funded account. The information below was accurate as of May 2026 but prop firms update their terms regularly. A violation can result in immediate account termination and loss of all profits.
What's Universally Banned

These Are Banned at Virtually Every Prop Firm

Regardless of the firm, these automation approaches will get your account closed:

✗ HFT (High Frequency Trading)
Placing hundreds or thousands of orders per second. No legitimate prop firm allows this — it exploits platform infrastructure rather than demonstrating trading skill.
✗ Latency Arbitrage
Exploiting price feed delays between your data source and the broker. Automatically terminates accounts at all firms — detected by pattern analysis.
✗ Tick Scalping
Entering and exiting trades within seconds based on tick-by-tick price movement. Most firms have minimum hold time rules (5–30 seconds) that prevent this.
✗ Grid/Martingale Systems
Automated grid trading or systems that double position size after losses. Banned because they create exponential drawdown risk that's incompatible with prop firm risk limits.
⚠️
What's Generally Allowed
Standard EAs, webhook automation (like Traders Post), Pine Script alert-based systems, and algorithmic strategies based on normal technical signals are generally permitted. The key test: is your strategy exploiting market inefficiencies through skill, or exploiting platform/broker technology advantages? The former is allowed; the latter is banned.

How to Automate Safely on a Prop Account

Even when automation is allowed, prop firm environments require careful configuration. A standard algo strategy that works on a retail account can violate prop firm rules if not properly adapted.
